Yummy and I spent this snowy morning doing some finger painting.  Though Dooter is outgrowing his morning nap, he is especially tired lately from fighting off a cold as well as enjoying a busy weekend of visiting.  I cherished this quiet art making time with Yummy, knowing that these calm and easy mornings are soon coming to a close.  Artmaking with Dooter is anything but calm and easy -mostly stressful and incredibly messy, with fun moments here and there.

You will need:
  • plain paper gift bags (I got mine at Dollarama)
  • tempera paint
  • glitter glue/paint (optional)
  • plastic lid for a paint palette

This was a simple and fun activity for a snowy morning.  I squeezed paint (Christmas colours, which are complimentary colours on the colour wheel!) and generous dollops of glitter onto a palette for each of us and we painted 15 gift bags.  Yummy started out with finger printing, like me, but it soon became whole-hand painting.
I absolutely love these ones!  I would have predicted that the paint would turn brown from mixing complimentary colours, but they stayed quite colourful and lovely, with beautiful textured lines from Yummy's fingers.

Here are a few beauties, hanging to dry:

These bags are lovely. I'd much prefer to receive a gift in these bags any day than store bought ones!

Just like you, I love the bins with a beach/summer theme! It was done in a very creative manner and I couldn't wait to make my own! By the way, I'll be having a free time next week, it's a sure thing that I'll be making this one to make my room more colorful. I'll be putting a lot of my favorite stuff there, and I'll make sure that these stuff will make me the happiest whenever I see it!
