It’s official -I have a nasty cold. Despite eating three cloves of raw garlic yesterday in an effort to fend it off, it appears that I am both sick AND stinky. And there are mounds and mounds of snow out the window, when some green grass could really cheer me up right now.
A spring-like art project was in order for this morning. Since Yummy seems suspicious of my efforts to involve her in anything art-related lately, I chose to make it a mixed-media project, luring her in with a wide selection of materials and a huge piece of paper on the floor. I drew the flower stems ahead of time to give Yummy a place to start on this enormous piece of paper. The paper came wrapped around the shelves I recently ordered from IKEA for my craft/work room -saved for just such a project.
We used: Mr. Sketch markers, Creamy Crayons
, glitter glue, Crayola Twistables crayons, muffin cups, and green paper cut into leaf shapes.
I love it when Yummy decides to create something that I didn’t plan for. Below you can see the bug she drew on a flower stem, which required a big googly eye, of course.
Here it is! Our invitation for Spring to get moving:
*I also included some paper doilies that Yummy had recently decorated with watercolour crayon.
It didn’t take a lot of preparation and was a lot of fun exploring and talking about a variety of materials with my girl. She is very excited for her daddy to get home and see the “garden” in the kitchen.
